Fine Arts & Electives in Upper School

At ACE Academy, our Upper School Fine Arts and Electives program empowers students to explore their creativity, discover new passions, and deepen their personal interests.

VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS, Coding AND MORE

Our fine arts and specials are highly interactive and focus on safe risk-taking, creative thinking, teamwork and practical skill building.
Upper school students are at a stage where self-exploration becomes increasingly important, and the arts offer a meaningful outlet for them to engage with ideas and themes that matter to them personally. Fine arts experiences also help support students’ social and emotional growth during the critical middle grade years. As a department, our goal is to offer courses that reflect student interests and passions, while fostering connection with like-minded peers.

Core electives at ACE include theater, theater tech, physical education, coding, visual arts, improv, and computer science. Additional offerings vary each semester, giving teachers the opportunity to share their own passions and introduce students to new creative avenues.

FEATURED ELECTIVES

Theater

ACE Academy’s theater program builds self-confidence, promotes teamwork, and gives students memories that last a lifetime. Improvisation classes teach students flexible thinking and how to work collaboratively in a fun and supportive environment. Students can also enroll in Advanced Theater to perform two plays every school year; from classics like "The Mousetrap" to new works like "10 Ways to Survive Life In A Quarantine." For those who prefer being behind the scenes, our Theater Tech elective allows students to design for our live productions: sets, sound, costumes and more!

Model UN

Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly, UN Security Council, or other multilateral body, which introduces students to the world of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision making. The students, better known as “delegates,” debate current issues on the organization’s vast agenda. They prepare draft resolutions, plot strategy, negotiate with supporters and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the UN’s rules of procedure – all in the interest of resolving problems that affect the world.

FIRST LEGO League

ACE Academy participates in FIRST® LEGO® League, a global innovation program that offers students real-world problem solving experience through a guided robotics competition.

Our students learn engineering and coding in an engaging,
inclusive, and creative in-class environment where they work
collaboratively to solve an annual robotics challenge centered around a yearly theme.
