As part of the application process, applicants ages six and older must submit a qualifying cognitive assessment, such as the WISC-V, CogAT, Stanford-Binet, or another comparable standardized assessment. Gifted and Talented testing completed through a student’s current school may also be submitted for consideration.

If your child has previously completed a cognitive, educational, or comprehensive assessment, please submit those records with the application before pursuing additional testing. Our admissions team will review the results and let you know whether any additional testing is needed.

A child is much more than a test score. During the initial review, the admissions committee considers the student’s assessment results alongside their educational records, academic readiness, and individual strengths and needs. Students who meet the initial qualifications may then be invited to participate in a shadowing experience.

For students who are invited to shadow, the committee also considers observations from the visit, including how the student engages with ACE’s learning environment. Following shadowing, the committee reviews the student’s complete profile to determine whether ACE can appropriately support their academic, developmental, and social-emotional growth and to identify the appropriate next steps.

Families pursuing a private assessment are encouraged to work with a licensed psychologist who has experience evaluating gifted learners. Gifted children may approach testing differently from other children, and an evaluator familiar with gifted learning profiles can provide a more complete understanding of the child’s strengths and needs.
